Used for centuries by Ayurvedic medicine, oil pulling is a very good oral detoxification procedure. Simply done by swishing a tablespoon of oil in the mouth for 20 minutes or less, on daily bases or whenever you can, this simple oral detoxification procedure has been praised to cure everything from gingivitis to headaches and more.
If you can’t do 20 minutes, three to five minutes is still good. You can use cold pressed organic coconut, olive or sunflower oil.
The best time to oil pull is the first thing in the morning right after you get out of bed. You can do this during your normal morning routine (while you shower and prep for the day).
After oil pulling, spit the spent oil into the toilet and push the water immediately after it is full of toxins (or you can spit it in the trash). Don’t be shocked if the oil/saliva mixture you spit out is milky white or yellow (it is full of toxins, as I mentioned).
Immediately afterward, rinse your mouth out with lukewarm water. Finally, brush your teeth as normal.
Note: Be careful and don`t vigorously swish your mouth with oil for the entire time or otherwise you can get sore jaw muscles. Simply and gently move the oil in your mouth and through your teeth without swallowing any of it.
